The Rolling Library's Book Drive & Storytime Afternoon!
Hi friends!
First of all, thanks to everyone who has been promoting and forwarding this newsletter! It helps us get the word out—and the more people who know about us, the more books we get, which means the more books you get!
Updates
The Rolling Library is currently planning our next few events so we’re reopening donations! For now, we’re only accepting general children’s books (especially books in Spanish) and spooky books (Goosebumps, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, anything Halloween-related) up to and including young adult. We’re holding a book drive this Saturday, September 19th at the Astoria Food Pantry from 10-2pm. If you’re in Queens but can’t make it to the drive, email us and we can arrange an alternate dropoff/pickup option. We’re also collecting lightly-used or new headphones to help students who are engaging in remote learning, and collecting tote bags for our future events.
Later in the month, we’ll be reopening donations for all genres, so stay tuned!
Upcoming Events
The Rolling Library is throwing a Children’s Storytime Afternoon in Jackson Heights! It will take place Sunday, September 27th from 12-4pm on the 34th Avenue open streets at 93rd street. We’re going to have local authors and teachers read aloud from children’s books—and have tons of kids books available for free! We’ll provide free beverages, snacks, masks, sanitizer, etc. and will ensure that we’re practicing social distancing. Come by, bring the whole family, and leave with new books!
Volunteer Opportunities
Currently, we’re looking for volunteers with cars who can pick up donated books in either Queens or Brooklyn. Email us if you can help!
Feel free to follow our Instagram or forward this newsletter to friends. Thank you again, and see you soon!
